GEORGE THE SPACESHIP
By: Kayla Heller
“Hey guys, lets go, come on, we’re going to be late!” Sammy screamed as we were all getting suited up for our journey.
“All right we’re coming, calm down Sammy,” Erin yelled back. “What about mom and dad, what are they going to say when they see we are gone?!” Maggie said.
“They won’t find out, now be quiet before you wake everyone up,” Taylor (Shorty) responded.
“Alright guys lets go, on the spaceship,” I said, getting into the driver seat of the spaceship named George.
“YOU’R DRIVING?!” Sammy screeched.
“Yes Sammy I am driving, now buckle your seat and calm down. Hurry up and get in your seats before it’s too late to turn back now. Alright we ready?”
“YESSSS!” everyone screamed.
I was so excited after we all put our money together, that we have been saving for years. Today was the day that we were going to the moon. Although our moms and dads did not know that we were going on a little expedition. They did not even know about George… we had not gotten around to letting them know about that little secret of ours. We had to be super quiet considering it was 1 A.M. and we were trying to not get grounded for life. The only way to get away with this was to tell our parents that we would be at each others houses. Jess was at Taylors, and Taylor was at Jesss’, I was at Brig and Shannon’s, and they told their mom and dad they were at my house. Erin was with Maggie, and Maggie at Erin’s, Mary was at Amanda’s and Amanda at Mary’s, and Sammy was at Shorty’s and Shorty was at Sammy’s. Wow if we got caught we would be in so much trouble. We were all going Shorty, Erin, Maggie, Brig, Shannon, Sammy, Taylor, Jess, Mary, Amanda, and me.
“10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3,” adrenaline rushing through everyone’s veins, “2… 1” everyone shrieked.
“OH MY GOODNESS,” Sammy was good for yelling things out.
“AHHHHHH THIS IS SO COOL! I CAN’T BELIEVE WE ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO DO THIS.” yelled Brig.
Shorty, Taylor, and Sammy closed their eyes. When we were finally out of Earth’s atmosphere, I told them to open their eyes.
“I’m scared of your driving though.” The three girls said with their hands over their eyes. Finally Shorty opened her eyes, slightly at first then they became wide. Either with excitement or fear one of the two I’m unsure maybe even a little bit of both.
“WATCH OUT!” Jess squealed. I turned to see a gigantic meteor coming right at us. I swerved just missing the meteor. Whoa that was close. Continuing on I was excited because we were getting close. Space is nothing like what everyone says it is like. Reaching the moon; it was shocking. We even saw the flag. It was beautiful, and I loved it.
“Ugh, its time to go if we ever want to get back on time,” Mary said.
“Alright,” we all groaned, “Next time?”
“Yes next time,” Mary said. And then Mary drove us home. Getting home we just got home just before sunrise. Then looking up into the sky we all smiled. We would always have our memories of our first trip to the moon.
